BAREFOOT DELIVERS A CONVERTED FLASH LITE APPLICATION TO IPHONE Barefoot software has released a second commercial iPhone application to cope with demand from the release of the “must have” Apple iPhone. The application was released to Boulevart who required an iPhone version for their rapidly expanding mobile guide concept, this time for the Marktrock Festival in Leuven, Belgium. “The iPhone has been extraordinarily received and we were looking for a way to get our mobile event guides running on them,”’ Mr Thomas Joos, leading mobile consultant at Boulevart, said“. ”Having our customer-branded native iPhone applications shows we are innovative and serious about providing our mobile event guides to as much mobile users as possible. We all know iPhone users are exponentially growing so it was a must to get our mobile event guides running on the iPhone some day. Working together with Barefoot Software is something we had never thought to achieve in the near future. We are specialized in Flash Lite and we never imagined being able to use a technology that ports our Flash Lite functionality to run Native on the iPhone! We are very proud Barefoot chose us to represent the Flash Lite to iPhone porting around the globe.” Barefoot Software is a leading mobile technology and application development, mobile publishing and licensing company. It released the second commercial iPhone application in partnership with Belgium Flash Lite development company Boulevart, marketed directly by Belgium operator Telenet. A last minute requirement for Marktrock's mobile event guide was to have this running on the iPhone as well. This would need to closely resemble the user interface and general functionality of the Flash Lite versions while running as a pure and native iPhone application. The Marktrock application offers all kinds of information you would like as a festival attendee. You are able to browse through the entire musical schedule, you have a map of the location so you will never get lost and it offers more information about some contests that are organized at the festival. "A visual attractive application only offering useful content without trying to sell unnecessary content is something we find very important" Thomas Joos said, referring to all the spam about mobile ringtones and wallpapers. “People are tired of this type of content and it's time to offer something with more value, that's the main reason people like our mobile event guide concept. They really feel that they need this type of information when they are at a festival, conference. Carrying all those flyers or vouchers is not always that handy!” Marktrock's mobile event guide was first successfully released by Telenet on the 30th July to more than one million customers. Once Telenet signed off on the final Flash Lite Application developed by Boulevart, Barefoot quickly translated and adapted the code, compiled and delivered a fully certified - Apple Store ready, iPhone version of the application to Boulevart for immediate release to users through the Apple Store. “The native iPhone application developed by Barefoot is NOT a Flash Lite application - it is specifically a translation and adaption of a Flash Lite application to a native iPhone application”. Flash developed applications are not supported for the iPhone so therefore, Barefoot using their impressive b.Tween technology can ensure the same functionality and rich user interface developed for Flash Lite enabled devices, was also available for iPhone users” Thomas Joos said. Barefoot’s b.Tween technology allows to rapidly port or develop graphical and functional native Smartphone applications across all Smartphone platforms, including Symbian, Symbian UIQ, Microsoft Windows Mobile, and now the iPhone using the same C++ code base. “Our b.Tween technology has enabled us to quickly translate the Flash Lite application source code to native iPhone applications. I would like to state that b.Tween is NOT a Flash compatible player or Virtual Machine and it does not pickup a SWF file and play it on the iPhone” says Emanuele Cipolloni CTO, Barefoot Software. “There are a lot of Flash Lite development houses out there that have developed some great applications for large and small brand name companies however, they have hit a brick wall when it comes to supporting those applications on the iPhone – Barefoot’s b.Tween technology and service has solved this problem” say’s Cipolloni A video of the application can be viewed here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-PsbMtTfrY
